As we kick off Employee Appreciation Week, we're reminded of Aflac U.S. President Virgil Miller's favorite phrase: “It’s a great day at Aflac.” The sentiment rings especially true this week as we take the time to honor our incredible flock. With more than 700 employees reaching tenure milestones, we're proud to celebrate the dedication and commitment that define our organization's culture. Whether it's serving our customers or fostering a sense of community within our team, the hard work of our employees and their dedication to the business is the driving force behind our success. Here's to a fantastic Employee Appreciation Week and to many more milestones together!

Celebrating National Volunteer Month, Aflac proudly honors Pamela Zamora as an Agent of Care. This accolade recognizes outstanding individuals who not only excel professionally, but also make significant contributions to society.   Pamela was inspired to address food insecurity in her community after witnessing untouched fruit on city trees. This led to the creation of the Reno Gleaning Project.   The Reno Gleaning Project mobilizes volunteers and corporate teams to harvest surplus fruit from trees, provides valuable tips on tree care and distributes the fruit to those in need through partnerships with food banks and non-profits.   Under Pamela's guidance, the project has distributed thousands of pounds of fresh, locally sourced fruit, improving access to nutritious food and combating hunger. In 2020 alone, the project donated 14,000 pounds of high-quality fruit.

Senior Vice President, Group Voluntary Benefits at Aflac

Aflac Group Insurance took part in the 11th annual Curing Kids Cancer Fire Truck Pull in Columbia, S.C.! Three Aflac teams pulled a fire truck to the finish line to benefit Prisma Health Children’s Hospital and children facing cancer in our area. This was a fun and meaningful way for our employees to come together for a great cause, while helping to advance Curing Kids Cancer’s mission to fund childhood cancer research and treatment. I’m also proud to say that Aflac first supported Curing Kids Cancer in 2005, and Aflac Group Insurance has been the presenting sponsor of the Fire Truck Pull for the last five years! https://lnkd.in/eyGTFMNJ

This National Volunteer Month, we're celebrating Lori Richardson, one of Aflac’s Agents of Care award recipients. Our Agent of Care award honors individuals who not only excel in their daily work, but also make a positive impact on their community through service.   Lori's journey is fueled by a deep-rooted passion for serving those with disabilities. Growing up with a special needs aunt, she understands the importance of compassion and support. Her dedication shines through her volunteer work with The Tim Tebow Foundation's Night to Shine, where she helps create red-carpet experiences for individuals with special needs and offers respite for caregivers.   Not stopping there, Lori extends her duckprint across continents through her involvement with Dreamflight, a UK-based charity granting dream trips to Orlando, Florida, for children with serious illnesses or disabilities. Earlier this year, Lori devoted her time to making dreams come true for 192 kids, with a special focus on nurturing relationships with a group of 16 children through various activities.

Aflac U.S. President and Georgia College alum ‘92 Virgil Miller returned to his alma mater to present a $100,000 Aflac CareGrant to support Georgia College & State University's College of Health Sciences and install an Aflac Park Bench, a physical manifestation of the company’s commitment. Aflac CareGrants address the medical needs of those living in under-resourced communities across the U.S., and this grant will benefit the healthcare education of future leaders and fund a mobile health unit to provide essential services to surrounding rural counties.

This March, we are honoring some of the inspiring women who've been catalysts for progressive change at Aflac. Meet Teresa White, Aflac's first female and African American president, whose visionary leadership helped transform the corporate landscape. Under Teresa, Aflac modeled inclusivity with 66% of over 5,500 employees being women and nearly 50% representing diverse backgrounds, leaving an enduring legacy of inspiration. Join us in celebrating Women's History Month and recognizing the remarkable contributions of women throughout history as we remain steadfast in our commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion for a brighter future.
