October 10, 2023 — Why Travel ?

After a forty-year career roaming all over the world, staying in cookie cutter hotel rooms, eating strange food, enduring countless sleepless overnight flights and weather that is either too hot, too cold, too dry or too wet, Jim Beyer, a retired architect, attempts to explain his continuing yearn to travel.  With a variety of photographs accompanying an informal recounting of his experiences, he attempts to explain part of the mystery behind what we call the wanderlust.

 

December 12, 2023 — Fishing the Canal – the Beauty and Entertaining Sights

Bill Prodouz resides in Pocasset and is a fisherman, birder, hiker, traveler, and explorer of the outdoors.  Bill’s talk is a guide to fishing the Cape Cod Canal. Bill’s talk with illustrate the beauty and interesting sights encountered in the wee hours of the morning.

 

February 13, 2024 — Herring Pond Wampanoag Culture, History & Place-Based Knowledge

Melissa (Harding) Ferretti, Chairwoman / President, Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribe will discuss Herring Pond Wampanoag Tribal history, traditional homelands, allotment of Indian lands and tribal initiatives in the present.  Mrs. Ferretti is also a member of the Bourne Select Board and a realtor with Jack Conway.

April 9, 2024 — Living and Traveling on a Boat

Daryl and Mary Smith will describe life aboard a boat in Boston Harbor marina.  They lived on the boat for two years while still working.  They met a lot of interesting folks and became a part of a wonderful community who supported each other through all kinds of weather.  There were times of great difficulty and some emergency situations.  But, most of all, it was a wonderful experience.   At one point, they decided to take some time off from work and travel on the boat.   Here about this adventure as well!
