Plimoth Patuxet Museums Awarded Grant from Americana Corner Funds will assist the Museum in sharing the stories of the United States’ founding era

Plimoth Patuxet Museums announces that it has recently been awarded $10,000 from Americana Corner’s Preserving America Grant Program.

The awarded grant funds will be used for the acquisition of reproduction items and materials needed to update the 17th-Century English Village’s palisade. “We are so grateful to have received this support from Americana Corner,” said Tom Begley, the Museum’s Deputy Director of Research and Public Engagement.  “This grant will enable us to deepen the living history experience in the 17th-Century English Village and enrich the immersive quality of the exhibit. New programs will help visitors better understand historical lifeways of the period.”

Voted in 2024 as the Nation’s best open air museum, Plimoth Patuxet has welcomed millions of people since its founding more than 75 years ago. A leader in the field of living history, the Museum’s exhibits, programs, and events continue to reflect a commitment to innovation and scholarship in telling the stories of the 17th century in all their complexity.

Americana Corner, founded in 2020 by Tom Hand as an online resource to help others rediscover America’s founding story and first century of expansion, has awarded 121 organizations more than $1.4 million in grant funds through its Preserving America grant program.
