Habitat Cape Cod Building Homes Through Donation

Every day is Earth Day at Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod, and each donation helps build more affordable homes on Cape Cod with local families.

Habitat Cape Cod’s ReStores are located in Falmouth (805 Gifford St. Ext.) and South Yarmouth (28 Whites Path), and they accept gently used and new donations of furniture, appliances, cabinets, and surplus building supplies. The highly trained, fully insured Deconstruction program supports the ReStores by salvaging items from homes across the Cape. The Deconstruction Team will schedule an intake to review the well-loved kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, appliances, and much more and then align demolition timing with the donor and their contractor. Donors will receive a tax write-off for their donations, and these materials won’t end up in landfills. If, for some reason, we cannot sell items, we can dispose of them for a donation fee. Call 508-394-6400 or visit restorecapecod.org/restore-donation to donate now.

Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod’s Cars for Homes program accepts donations of non-running and running cars, trucks, boats, RVs, snowmobiles, and construction equipment. For more details, visit habitatcapecod.org/donate/cars-for-homes or call 1-877-277-4344. Please mention that the vehicle donation should benefit Habitat Cape Cod.

The funds raised from these programs further Habitat Cape Cod’s affordable home-building program while helping the environment by keeping used goods out of landfills. Over the next three years, Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod will add over 20 more local Cape Cod families to our homeownership program to build their forever homes and remain a vital part of our community.

Homeownership applications are now available for Dennis and Wellfleet homes with a submission deadline of Monday, May 13, 2024; applicants can visit habitatcapecod.org for more information. Future homebuyers build their homes alongside volunteers, donors, sponsors, and the community, then purchase the home for an affordable price when finished and will have an affordable mortgage. The homes are deed-restricted to remain affordable in perpetuity.

Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has completed over 180 homes on Cape Cod and is currently building in Brewster and will begin new builds this fall in Dennis and Wellfleet. More builds are planned for Yarmouth, Marstons Mills, Falmouth, and beyond. Local homebuyers are chosen after a long application process and a drawing of qualified applicants; future homeowners put sweat equity into their homes and purchase the homes with an affordable mortgage. Homes are deed-restricted to remain affordable in perpetuity.  Habitat Cape Cod homes are energy-efficient and generate more energy than the homes use. These homes also have a sustainable landscape to align with Cape Cod’s delicate ecosystem.  Habitat for Humanity of Cape Cod has been recognized nationally for creating and producing energy-efficient affordable homes.
